TOPIC: THE GIFT OF RESTLESSNESS
TEXT: GENESIS 1:28; 27:40 (KJV, ISV, NET)
Today, EVANG. DAVID OFURUM teaches…
When God made man, He gave man a gift called Dominion. That package contains a nature – Fruitfulness; an experience – Multiplication and; two responsibilities – Replenishing and Subduing the earth. However, Dominion, which ordinarily means rulership, is given a different perspective in the ISV and NET translations of Gen. 27:40 to mean restlessness. Consequently, God’s gift to man in Gen. 1:28 can be rightly described as the gift of restlessness. Restlessness is a virtue that makes complacency unattractive. A man operating in dominion does not settle for any level of achieved success but soon gets restless and aspires for something greater. No wonder Apostle Paul couldn’t settle for past glory (Phil. 3:13).
The Spirit of Dominion will make you restless with sin, such that you will never let sin have dominion over you (Rom. 6:14, Ps. 19:13), rather you will rule over it (Gen. 4:7).
So God has already given you all things you need for life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:3); it’s contained in the package called Dominion, but you are still at the level where you are because you are not yet restless enough about it.
I pray for you: From today, become uncomfortable about every situation that requires a change in your life in Jesus’ name.
